Good news from the follow up appointment with the surgeon/urologist today. The pathologist reports that the tumor was a seminoma, which is what 70% of all testicular cancers are. This is the good kind of cancer (it's like the low-carb version). Prognosis for a cure is still nearly 100%. Huzzah!
Next steps are to visit with an oncologist and radiologist to talk about a treatment plan. The recurrence of this type of cancer is in the 30-40% range, and the spread would typically be in the lymph nodes in my abdomen. If we pursue a follow-up treatment plan, the chance or recurrence shrinks to less than 5%.
Any-who, this is all very good news.
Also, on this day in 1967, the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's album -- aptly timed, as I am TOTALLY gettin by with a little help from my friends.
Am off now with Patrick Metz to the mountains of North Carolina to DJ his sister's wedding this weekend. Mazel Tov to Liz! MWAH
That's great news, Mark! Hope all continues to go well! xo Anna
